K-BEAUTY REVIEW: Holika Holika – Less On Skin Redness Calming Cica Cleansing Foam

Today I will be reviewing a cleanser! So the main properties I look for in a cleanser are 1) pH balanced – around pH 5.5, 2) Foams up! and 3) Gentle on sensitive skin. Holika Holika Less on Skin Redness Calming Cica Cleansing Foam seemed to fit all these requirements so I decided to try it out. This product claims to have a low pH 5.5 as well as moisturizing and skin soothing benefits.

Read on to hear my experience with this cleanser 🙂

The Product:

Type: Foam Cleanser

Volume: 150ml

Recommended skin type: All skin types, sensitive skin

Key Ingredients:

> CICA-NESIUM™ : complex of Centella Asiatica Extract (anti-inflammatory and moisturizes by stimulating hyaluronic acid synthesis in the skin) + Magnesium Sulfate (emulsion stabilizer so controls consistency of product)

> Pollustop™ : polysaccharide which creates a barrier on the skin, protecting against pollution and UV light.

Full Ingredients List (cosdna):

The Packaging:

The cleanser comes in a simple plastic squeezy tube with a sturdy cap that does not seem likely to break or leak. It is easy to disperse the product and you can easily control how much you want.

The Consistency:

The foam disperses as a thick white cream. When spread on the hand, it breaks up (see 2nd picture) and when you add water, it foams up nicely.

The 3rd picture is only foamed up on the back of my hand but when you foam it between two hands, it foams a bit better! The foam is gentle and soft on the skin, with a distinctive centella scent (a fresh scent). It washes off easily.

The Performance:

Since the cleansing foam lathers up nicely, I found it to be gentle and light on the skin. I did not need much pressure to cleanse my face, thanks to the foam, and it removed my make-up (concealer, eye shadow, gel eyeliner) fully. (Though I don’t usually rely on a cleanser alone to remove makeup – I like to use Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water first!)

After washing the product off, my face feels fresh and moisturized which is great for my dry skin! It does not have any tightening or harsh feeling at all – very gentle 🙂

Pros:

> Leaves skin feeling fresh and comfortable

> Lathers up nicely

> Gentle for sensitive skin

> Low pH 5.5

> Removes make-up effectively

Cons:

> Strong centella scent

Overall Rating:

4.5/5

Holika Holika Less on Skin Redness Calming Cica Cleansing Foam is a gentle, foaming cleanser which left my skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. Bear in mind it does have a strong centella scent however I did not mind it too much personally.

Due to its low pH, calming effect on my sensitive skin and non-drying finish, I would highly recommend this cleanser to those with sensitive skin though I feel this would work well for most skin types. This is one of my favourite cleansers out of all the others I have tried!
